| Q: What are the major components of the Supernova Flex? |
| A: The major components are the optical screen, suspension wires, a motor, an interface controller, a remote control, a cover and the mounting system. |
| Q: Does the remote control operate with IR or RF signals? |
| A: It is an Infrared Remote Control where visible contact between remote control and receiver eye is required. |
| Q: Can the Supernova Flex be controlled by a wall switch? |
A: We do not provide a wall switch with the Supernova Flex, but a wall switch can easily be connected to the low-voltage trigger of the screen. The trigger operates at 5 to 12 V. For more details, see the installation guide in the Downloads section. |
| Q: Is it easy to integrate the Supernova Flex into a control system (e.g. AMX)? |
A: The screen can easily be connected to a control system via the standard serial (RS-232) interface. See the installation guide in the Downloads section for more details. |
| Q: Can the Supernova Flex be updated to a different communication interface when already installed? |
| A: Yes, it will be possible for an installer to update the screen to a different communication interface at the site of installation by replacing the controller. The current interface will be lost. The screen can be operated by only one of the available interfaces (Serial-, Ethernet or WiFi) at a time. |
| Q: Is the Supernova Flex compatible with the electrical voltages and frequencies in all countries? |
| A: Yes, the screen comes with a power supply ranging from 96 to 246 VAC and 47 to 63 Hz. A power cord with ground connection for the country of use is included with the screen. |
| Q: Must the Supernova Flex be installed with a functional ground connection? |
| A: Yes. The dnp warranty is voided if the screen is not installed with a working ground connection. There could be the hazard of electrical shock if the screen is installed without functional ground. |
| Q: How much space is required for installation? |
A: The required space for installation depends on the size of the screen. Please refer to the CAD drawings and the installation guide in the Downloads section for detailed information on how much space is needed for installing a certain size of screen. |
| Q: Can something be installed behind the Supernova Flex? |
| A: The distance from the screen to the wall is 20 mm [0.8”] standard. The lower bar of the screen is the part closest to the wall. Spacers are available from dnp to create a bigger distance between the screen and wall. With installed spacers it is possible to hang something behind the screen (e.g. a whiteboard, a painting, a picture, a flat panel TV etc). |
| Q: What types of connectivity does the Supernova Flex have? |
| A: As standard the Supernova Flex comes with: Infrared, RS232 and 5-12 volt trigger. In addition a WiFi and an Ethernet connection module can be purchased. |
| Q: Can the Supernova Flex be mounted in the ceiling? |
| A: The screen is not designed to be hung from the ceiling. Custom brackets would be needed, which are not available from dnp. |
| Q: Is the cover available in custom designs? |
| A: No, the cover is available in five standard designs: black, white, brushed aluminium, cherry wood and maple wood. If a customer wants to make a special design themselves, we can deliver the cover untreated. |
| Q: Is the Supernova Flex available in custom sizes? |
A: No. See the product specifications in the Downloads section for available sizes. |
| Q: Can the speed of the screen be adjusted? |
A: A regulatory requirement limits the movement of the screen to maximum 150 mm/s. This is the default setting when delivered from dnp. The speed can easily be adjusted via the serial-, Ethernet- or WiFi communication interface. See the installation guide in the Downloads section. |
| Q: Can the lower set point be adjusted? |
A: Yes. The default setting of the lower set point is where the screen is just starting to be hidden at the top. The screen can be lowered maximum 1.5 m [59”] from that point. A new lower set point can be set via the remote control or the serial-, Ethernet- or WiFi communication interface. See the installation guide in the Downloads section for details on how to set the lower set point and note that dnp recommends that only a certified dnp installer change the lower set point. |
| Q: How can the Supernova Flex be cleaned? |
A: Detailed cleaning instructions are included in the user guide – available in the Downloads section. |
