Austria: A mammoth 9.4 m x 2.6 m Supernova Infinity installation at the headquarters of Hypo Tirol Bank in Innsbruck, Austria has been named October 2008 “installation of the month” – with arts & multimedia horvath the proud winner of the honour.
Hypo Tirol Bank wanted to create a panoramic “window to nature” inside its facility, captivating viewers with peaceful, constantly changing footage from the great outdoors. But high ambient light conditions, including an enormous window directly beside the screen, as well as the sheer size of the installation made the project a challenge – until Supernova entered the picture.
“People were very sceptical as to whether this was even possible – even me,” says Alex Horvath of arts & multimedia horvath, the company responsible for project planning, concept, filming and post-production work. “A lot of testing was done, different types of screens were checked out, even an LED wall was under discussion,” he explains. “But when we made the first tests with Supernova, I knew then that it could be done. Even when the sun was shining, all the blacks were still there.”
“It really looks sensational,” says Martina Aigner, Advertising and Communications, Hypo Tirol Bank. Adds Horvath: “Looking into customers’ faces and seeing their amazement is the biggest compliment. Without this screen, it’s clear that the installation wouldn’t have been possible.”
