Until now, the basic principles for displays apply to for all types of displays, but when it comes to large screen displays, projection systems are the most cost effective.

Two different ways of projection

Fundamentally there are two different ways of projecting an image. Firstly there is front projection, where the image is projected onto a surface which reflects the light back to the viewer. Secondly we have rear projection, where the image is projected onto the rear surface of a translucent material which transmits the light.


In both cases the light source is a projector using  a lens to project and focus the light onto the screen surface.
