Playful installation does the business

Danish business academy, Erhvervsakademi Midtvest, aims to create a stimulating environment that promotes innovative thinking. Our first Installation of the Month award this year goes to Danish AV specialists FMJ for their playful – and successful – response to this serious challenge.

All work and no play?

That is certainly not the case at Danish business academy Erhvervsakademi Midtvest. The academy’s “Playground” project aims to promote innovative thinking in its common area, where students mingle between classes. “Innovation is not a course you can simply follow in school. It is a mind-set; a way of thinking. And we believe that AV and interior design are important tools for bringing this idea to life,” says Henriette Slebsager, Rector of the academy.

Always inspiring

The AV installation, designed by Danish specialists FMJ, is a central part of the project. The system is used for presentations and in lectures in the main hall. And between classes, it displays images and footage that support the room’s lighting and colours, thereby helping to create an inspiring, innovative atmosphere.

The set-up

FMJ came up with a playful solution based on a massive 4,8 x 3 m display, consisting of a 2x2 Supernova Infinity Screen on a special mount. Says Peter Møller Johansen of FMJ:
“The choice of screen was a no-brainer. We knew from the beginning that we needed optical Supernova Screens for this project. Not just because they can be used in bright ambient light, but also because of their superior price-performance ratio. As the gable wall consists of windows, the big challenge was to create a lift system that could lower the screen to obtain better viewing angles during presentations. At the same time the installation should be mounted on the wall with a 100% relief in the supporting structure.”
